This gallery shows other items that I have created using alternate types of media.

Still Life

Still life art has been around since ancient times . The aim of a still life is to explore the forms, colours, textures, and composition of these objects. It isnt something I do a lot of but I find its great when I want to practice or try something new

All of the pieces shown in the still life section were created because I wanted to try out a new paper, new pencils or try out new techniques so I hope you dont think they are too shabby

Graphite

This was the first media I ever worked in, which is why some of the pieces on here are quite old

Graphite drawing as a form involves drawing grey scale drawings with nothing more than a regular pencil, though these days you can get different weights of graphite pencils for a variety of depth of colour so, if you use them, you dont have to do it all by layering and erasure. Blending is usually done with an eraser or a tool like a tortillon or stump to blur individual lines and create gradations and soft shadows.

As a medium it offers one of the cheapest forms of expression and can be done anywhere since all you need is a pencil and a sheet of paper, its also eco friendy and relatively easy to erase so great for sketching and outdoor work.

As you can see from my work I enjoy drawing both people and animals with graphite pencils, they are versatile, give greater control over linework, shading and tonal variation which makes them perfect for detailed work.

Mono tone

Just as graphite on white paper can make the subject stand out, using any single colour against a contrasting background has the same effect.

Whether this is black on white, white on black or any other single colour against a different contrasting colour, it offers a bold contrast that can in turn make details and shapes pop and so look more dramatic which, I hope you will agree, can create visually striking effects for the artwork.

Commissioning Portraits

Commissioning one of these is a little more complicated, Paintings, pastels or mixed media are all covered on my prices page but wood carving is something new so if you are interested please contact me by phone, email or through the links to Facebook and Instagram at the bottom of this page.

I will respond as soon as I can and, so we can discuss what you would like me to do, the subject of creation and how you want it presented.

Once we agree on everything and have chosen suitable photos, I will invoice you for the deposit, and slot you into my work schedule. I will notify you again when I am ready to start on your piece. If your circumstances change before this point and you no longer wish to proceed, let me know and I will refund your deposit.

After starting I will email you a photo of the layout so you can check everything and will continue to send you regular updates throughout the process, working with you to ensure you receive a portrait that you are truly happy with.

I require a £25 deposit on accepting your commission. The balance plus any shipping costs, (if you are not collecting in person) are due on completion.

Quotes in writing remain effective for 3 months. Deposits are no longer refundable once I start working on your portrait, this is to cover some of the costs for time spent and wasted materials as these cannot be recovered once work commences.
